About Project

People with developmental disabilities often face major challenges in learning and social activities due to stress and reduced concentration in daily life. HUGgy, developed by Dolbom Dream, is a wearable assistive device designed to address these issues by using air pressure to deliver deep compression, helping to provide emotional stability and improve focus.

HUGgy is not just a medical device. It is crafted as a soft, vest-like garment that can be worn with ease for everyday activities. Its user-centered design allows individuals to maintain dignity and autonomy. Early clinical trials and pilot tests demonstrated clear results: a 57% reduction in stress and a 28% improvement in concentration. Today, it has been distributed to over 100 institutions nationwide, with more than 5,000 users.

At the heart of this innovation lies the principle of inclusive design. Unlike traditional assistive devices that are heavy and uncomfortable, HUGgy delivers a gentle, hugging-like pressure adjustable to meet individual needs. Through co-design involving teachers, therapists, and families, the device achieves both comfort and aesthetic appeal, enabling seamless integration into daily routines.

Dolbom Dream is a certified B Corp(Benefit Corporation) social venture, the first of its kind currently operating in the Daejeon–Chungcheong region, has been channelling profits from crowdfunding into community donations, thereby building a circular structure that connects local and social impact. In this process, the firm continued refining assistive devices with the community to elevate them as tools of dignified care.

Looking ahead, HUGgy is preparing to expand its activity beyond Korea to Singapore, Australia, the United States, Malaysia, and Japan. With scalability that allows application across diverse age groups and conditions, ranging from autism spectrum disorders to dementia, it holds a strong potential to become a global standard for emotional care.
