About Project

The designer, a wheelchair user himself, has perfected, designed and manufactured the world's only modern wooden wheelchairs. This manufacturing technique enables the desinger to produce a wide variety of wheelchair models, for all ages and all types of user. This manufacturing technique can be implemented with relatively simple tools, which gives me hope that it can be deployed in countries where high-performance wheelchairs are not accessible to the most modest of people.

As the availability of a high-performance wheelchair is an essential condition for the integration of people with reduced mobility in our societies, his innovation could enable many disabled people to find a place in the country where they live. The superior aesthetics of wooden wheelchairs resulting from my innovation also lead to a change in the way third parties look at the person using the wheelchair. As a result, the user is likely to feel less alienated by his or her wheelchair.

Last but not least, these new wheelchairs are more environmentally friendly than conventional models made of metal, plastic or composite materials and they could be manufactured using locally available wood resources.
