About Project

Sullivan Plus is a visual aid service app, which launched in 2018 by social venture TUAT. It has enhanced its functionality by combining with SK Telecom’s voice AI platform NUGU.

The ‘text recognition’ function where AI reads aloud the letters on an information board or manual is most notable, and users can listen to AI explanations that use features such as ‘face recognition’, ‘image description’, ‘color recognition’ and ‘brightness’.

In November 2022, TUAT ran a social media campaign entitled #OnePhotoForAGoodCause in partnership with SK Telecom to collect photos for AI learning.

Through the participation of non-disabled people, a total of 14,134 photos were collected and used to increase the accuracy of the app.

By incorporating user feedback to add further features and gathering the small efforts of members of our society, Sullivan Plus has become an essential app in the lives of the visually impaired.

The app is free to use and currently being used by roughly 270,000 people in 202 countries around the world.
