This backpack is for the children of rural Africa who have to walk along dangerous roads carrying heavy water containers (jerrycans) for an average of at least two hours a day.
Using a lightweight yet sturdy and waterproof material, it is made to fit a 10kg jerrycan exactly, and has a reflective sign saying ‘SLOW DOWN’ to catch the attention of passing drivers.
Jerrycan bag not only helps to relieve the weight of the jerrycan but also acts as a walking traffic sign.
Since the establishment of their design studio in Kampala, in 2014, local Ugandan women have been hired to make the backpacks, and roughly 15,000 backpacks have been gifted to African children to date.
Through their global campaign ‘BUY & GIVE’, they have positively impacted the lives of African children and the local community.
