We compiled a list of frequently asked questions regarding the application and
reviewing process for the 2023 Seoul Design Award.
You are eligible to apply for this award if you studied a design-related major, or you are a designer (planner) with design experience who has conducted a sustainable project pursuing harmonious relations among people, society and environment. <br><br>When a planner and designer jointly apply for this award, a designer shall apply for the award as a representative and companies, governments and organizations can be indicated as a planner.
This award consists of two segments.<br><br>For Segment One, you can submit only the projects that have been implemented within the past five years, i.e. those projects implemented later than June 29th, 2018.<br>For Segment Two, you can submit the projects that have not been implemented, but have ways of implementation as research projects.
It is possible. <br><br>However, you can an email account to submit one project. Therefore, you need to use different email accounts to submit multiple projects.
You can re-submit the projects that have been submitted before if there is improvement in the projects. (You must indicate the improvement from the previous submission in the application.)
You can submit your application via the submission system on the Seoul Design Award webpage: www.seouldesignaward.or.kr. (You cannot submit your application in other ways, such as visiting the office or sending emails.)

No. The entry for Seoul Design Award is for free of charge.
Fill out the application via the submission system on the Seoul Design Award webpage. The size of images should be in total less than 100MB.<br>Insert the URLs for reports, other images and videos. (Please make sure that you allowed external access when you share the URLs.)
No. The application must be filled out in English.
Provide detailed information on how you identified a problem in your daily life and the project you have conducted by including the core values of Seoul Design Award.
It means a submission of joint project under the name of organizations, institutes and/or companies. <br><br>If you don’t have any team name and want to receive the award as individuals, even though the project is submitted as a team, please indicate the names of (up to three) individuals who will receive the award. <br><br>If four or more designers participated in your project and you don’t have your team name, indicate your project name as team name.
Depending on the characteristics of your project, you can select main and sub-design fields. <br>You can select all applicable fields, and such information will be used as a reference for the award manager.
In the submission page, when you click “Revise,” you can see the submission information and revise your submission. This is the confirmation that your application has been successfully submitted.
The award secretariat will send an email around August or September to the applicants who have passed the second round of review process to request additional information and get answers for the third round of the review process.
Through the votes of citizens, one Korean team and one international team will be selected among the projects to be reviewed in the third round of the review process.
This is a new category created in 2023.<br><br>The award selects the best project that includes the core value of Seoul Design Award among the research projects that have not been implemented, but have identified implementation methods.
