About Project

As the adoption of electric vehicles grows, securing charging infrastructure in indoor urban parking facilities remains a major challenge. Conventional fixed chargers are costly to install and often require structural modifications, slowing the pace of deployment. Addressing the challenges, a ceiling-mounted sliding rail charging system has been proposed, marking a new turning point.

Mounted on ceiling rails, the charging unit can move to serve multiple vehicles, greatly improving space efficiency while eliminating the need for unnecessary civil works or buried wiring. Operated simply via QR code and mobile app, the charger automatically slides into position above the vehicle’s charging port. With ergonomic design features such as visual and voice guidance, the system is user-friendly even for seniors or those unfamiliar with digital technology.

Beyond convenience, the system delivers significant social value. By utilizing existing parking structures, it reduces resource waste and ensures equitable access to charging, lowering barriers to EV adoption. It directly contributes to reducing urban carbon emissions and expanding green mobility, encouraging communities to transition toward sustainable transportation.

The project was developed from the concept design stage through research on user needs and urban parking scenarios. Feedback from stakeholders in user experience studies and case analyses was incorporated to refine key design elements, ensuring both feasibility and future applicability.

If widely implemented, this system could enable cities to maximize the use of existing infrastructure while building a sustainable transportation network. With its technical feasibility already validated, rapid adoption and dissemination are within reach.
