    Mexican Park

"Time to learn culture for teenagers!"

Santa Fe is located on a hill in west Mexico City. Developed after the great earthquake of 1985,

it is home to a complex mix of residents ranging from those with high socioeconomic status to those of meager means.

The local community wanted to transform this enormous ruin in the middle of the city into a world-class park instead of the apartment complex that the city was planning.

The “Santa Fe Neighborhood Association” took the matter in hand, and after discussions with city authorities and privatesector developers,

it was able to set a deal to reduce the number of apartments and build a public park in the remaining space.

From the earning morning, La Mexicana Park is full of energy with joggers. At lunchtime, office workers stop by to enjoy a meal and lay back.

During the afternoons and evenings, families visit the park for a stroll, and the cafes and restaurants are full of people.

Even late at night, the park bustles with local residents and office workers who come for group work-outs.

On weekends, people from all over the city visit the park to spend time with their dogs or skateboard, and children play together in the playground.

La Mexicana Park is making a significant impact on the local community.

Although the park is open to anyone from 5 AM to 10 PM with no walls surrounding it,

there has not been a single criminal incident in the past three years since it opened.

As such, space design and reproduction design for youth and all generations are increasing.

In this way, design across all generations is defined as a good design case in Human City Design Award.

For a better society, a better community, and a better life,

we think endlessly so that all generations can coexist and grow together,

and not just worry about it,

but creating space and objects to create a new community is the final goal of Human City Design Award.
